ALRIGHT BITCHES! it's time to ketchup on what I've bee up to this past semester... get it? CATCH UP!?
It's been a pretty rough semester due to the financial crisis and various other things... so when it was finally over... my friend Lizzie and I had a celebratory interpretive dance of sorts to represent our temporary freedom from the stresses of college... we tangled ourselves in yarn and proceeded to cut ourselves loose!
Alright!... let's start with some collages that I made in my Conceptual Drawing class with the famous Keith Boadwee (LOVE HIM!)
These two are images from a magazine of a famous child star that I won't mention since it's not really that important.
I covered the figure in layers of a foggy transparent vellum... the layers of vellum created this ghostly effect that I really enjoy.
The space that the figure is sitting in resembles that of the studios at SFAI... which I found very interesting since I felt like I was fading away and losing myself in the walls of the school. (like I said... it's been a rough semester)

These pieces were also inspired by my feelings this semester... I felt like I was melting, dripping, and just becoming nothing... a blob
These inspired me to do this piece... Tunnel Vision... a long tube of fabric was placed over a small television that only played static... the lights were turned off so that the only light in the room was from the glow of the t.v.
The audience (like I hoped) went up the the tube of fabric and peeked inside... connecting themselves as one with the television... creating this effect of them melting into it

I LOVED IT! and hope this will inspire me to do more work

as a side project I decided to take a class called Designing A New Skin... it deals with fabric and sewing for the body... and I thought it'd be fun
I created this outfit for my final project in the class inspired by another class I was in... Witchcraft, Oracle, and Magic with Thor Anderson... he's more of a spiritual teacher... and he really helped me get through the semester... so the outfit was a pop/comic/superhero version of a shaman... named SHA MAN... cool huh?
i am in love with our string dances!!
ReplyDeleteAND i think that your television piece was such a nice culmination to your semester's work. I know it was rough times this semester, but it seriously inspired your best work yet.
